OUR STORY

The Georgia Obesity Society (GOS) is a nonprofit professional organization uniting multidisciplinary obesity medicine professionals across Georgia. Founded in March 2026, and recognized as a registered charity in the State of Georgia April 2026, GOS proudly operates as a local affiliate of the Obesity Medicine Association, the national leader in obesity medicine education.

GOS was established by a dedicated group of obesity medicine professionals who saw the need for a stronger statewide network to support clinicians treating one of Georgia's most pressing public health challenges - obesity.

Obesity is a chronic, multifactorial disease, and the clinicians who treat it deserve a professional home for collaboration, continuing education, and evidence-based practice.

Our members include physicians, advanced practice providers, pharmacists, dietitians, behavioral health specialists, and allied healthcare professionals from every corner of the state. Together, we share knowledge, strengthen professional relationships, and work to improve the quality of obesity care Georgians receive.

Our vision is a Georgia where every patient living with obesity has access to compassionate, evidence-based care, where every clinician treating obesity feels supported, educated, and connected.
